Illinois Prepares for Pesach and Salutes the Rebbe
In honor of Yud Aleph Nissan the Head Shliach of Illinois, Rabbi Meir Moscowitz, was invited to give the invocation at both the State Senate and the House of Representatives in the Illinois State Capital.
After his remarks and putting a dollar in the Pushka, he and Rabbi Avraham Kagan Shliach to River North and Director of Government Affairs for Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, met with the Jewish legislators in the and gave them beautiful packages of Shmurah Matzah and literature about Pesach.
They also met with Illinois Lieutenant Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti and other state leaders. In what has by now become a tradition, Governor Rauner signed a Proclamation declaring Yud Aleph Nissan as "Education and Sharing Day" . The visit culminated in a 'Model Seder' at the Governor's home led by Rabbi Avraham Kagan and joined by Shliach Rabbi Dovid Teichtel of nearby University of Illinois.
